Photo of the day, Saturday

Holly Update: Today was a red letter day. She drove her new car, fortunately there were less than 1000 miles on the new wheels. We puttered around the neighborhood, through the school parking lot and then on to MVP, the local gym which just happens to have a Physical Therapy Office inside. She parked, got the walker out, walked all the way into the building, it takes 6 minutes by the way, up to the check in window. Amazing. Of course, since I high jacked her before the shower we ran into someone that we knew. Back to the car and home again. She did marvelous, totally marvelous!

Not much else to report, we did our chores, laundry is mostly caught up, upstairs has been cleaned up and I cooked like a fiend. I made waffles for breakfast, awesome grilled ham and cheese for lunch, dinner was pork chops on the grill and I made Chicken Stoup ( think Stew and Soup combined) for tomorrow's lunch. I love working in the kitchen.

We watched the original Disney version of "The Parent Trap", with Hayley Mills, Brian Keith and Maureen O'Hara. It was a stitch, one of our favorite family type movies is the 90's version with a very young Lindsey Lohan. It was funny to see what bits were carried from the original to the remake.

Today's Photo comes courtesy of Holly's Class reunion swirl. They are preparing for their 30 year reunion and are using a web based social network called Facebook to reconnect. Anyway, can you find my lovely bride?

Have a great day!

Photo of the day, Friday

Holly Update: She's doing well today, so well in fact, it's not really worth the update. Every day now she's a bit stronger and bit more able. It's good to see her on the mend.
We went out tonight with our dear friends Jeff and Lissa. That's them in the photo, yes Lissa, you've made the blog again. We went to Carrabba's, an Italian restaurant. While the food was really good, the waiter was phenomenal. One of those guys that's funny and knowledgeable about the menu and seemed to be in a good mood and happy to take our orders. Really made for a nice evening out and it was great to catch up with Jeff and Lissa while our boys caught up in their own way in front of the game system at their house. Thanks guys!

Have a great day!

Holly Update: She's going to town with the walking, that's for sure. She's burning a track into the main circuit around the house and to "mix it up a bit" she's introduced a method of doing a figure 8 using the island in the kitchen. So much fun!

I wanted to post the first shots of her walking, but couldn't due to technical difficulties. Her good friend, Cil, shot a photo to her that Holly posted on her blog, you really need to check it out. Well done Cil! Click here to see Holly's blog.

Some may have noticed that work isn't getting much press right now. I have a disability called compartentialization. It means when I get really stressed out, I don't talk about the stressed area. The stress is obvious and yet not. The economy is causing severe slow downs everywhere, even our manufacturing portion of our business. But on the advance product development side, that work load is at an all time high. For example, I have the privilege of heading up the largest single product launch that I've ever been associated with. I have lots of tools being built, some locally, some regionally and some globally. We are nearing the launch and so many things are coming together at once and the stress is almost palpable. That's just for one customer, all of our customers want to use this slow down to come up with new stuff so that they can take market share when we get better, so there are even more engineering projects going. Crazy! Special thanks to a keen person for a much needed shot of sunshine today!

Here's the shot that I was going to share last night when I couldn't find the camera cord. She's looking good and standing and holding both arms up. Wow, it was a heady moment. Not nearly as cute as Cil's, but a good sign of progress.

Have a great day!

Non-Photo of the day (Again)

Holly update: She was upstairs twice yesterday, took a shower in her own house and practiced getting into and out of the drivers side of the new car. Needless to say, she's exhausted.

No current picture today. I had one of her standing but then I couldn't locate the cable to get the pic out of the camera. This was from Spring break 2004, when we went to Cape Canaveral. This shot is from non-discript section of shore in Florida.
Have a great day!

Photo of the day, Tuesday

Holly Update: The doctor saw Holly today and upon review of her X-rays gave her clearance to put weight on both her arm and leg. While she isn't strong enough now to just jump out of the chair, we are greatly pleased with her being moved on to the next phase of recovery. We know it's going to be physically demanding and emotionally draining, but we are confident that we can get through that just like we've gotten through the past 6 weeks; with prayer, friends support and true grit. Yes indeed, Holly has true grit.

No photo today, I am stealing time on someone else's computer. Sorry, but how about this instead...imagine you see Holly jumping up in the air and clicking her heels together. While she would never try that, it's a good image to have don't you think?!

Have a great day!
